The Sauce Shop products are must-haves for getting barbecue and summer-ready. With a vast range of craft sauces, hot sauce, BBQ, ketchup, mayos, and rubs, they have something for everyone. Flavour is of the utmost importance to this UK-based brand stating “our mission is to make eating exciting and food more flavoursome”.
Sauce Shop was founded in 2014 by food-loving couple Pam and James. They had met during their graduate jobs where they were both studying food-related degrees. They enjoyed creating delicious meals but were hesitant to put underwhelming sauces on top. They found supermarket sauces to be full of water and additives.
So, this inspired them to create Sauce Shop with an ethos of not using additives or thickeners, such as cornflour, modified starch, and gums like xanthan and guar. As they were not using thickeners they didn’t need to include added water meaning their main ingredients were vegetables.
Once Sauce Shop was born, Pam and James started their pursuit of flavour. Starting off with a Smoky Chipotle Ketchup created in their own kitchen and slowly adding more flavours to the brand as they grew.
Initially, they used an old DYMO labeller on each bottle they sold and their current digital design replicates this as a nod to their humble beginnings.
From their kitchen and their first farmers market where they sold just 30 products, Sauce Shop now have their own premises in Nottingham City Centre where they produce thousands of bottles and jars every week to be shipped all over the world.
Every product is still handmade here in the UK by their team and this is just the beginning for them. Their goal is to become a global brand, helping people to create and experience amazing tasting food wherever they may live.
