We've just landed some new additions to our alcoholic drinks range from Glebe Farm. Two excellent Gluten Free Beers, a spelt beer and a range of three unique and delicious ciders.
The gluten free beers are named after the heroes of the wartime Pathfinder RAF squadrons who were based in Huntingdon during the war. "Night Mission" is a traditional tasting, proper "Ale" and "Wellington Bomber", a full bodied dark porter.
A few planes unfortunately crashed on Glebe Farms land and relics from these crashes are constantly being unearthed. The “Wellington Bomber” is a quite well documented tragic crash on one of their fields where unfortunately some of the crew lost their lives, five minutes after taking off. They are buried locally to the farm.
Spelt is an ancient grain originally grown by the Romans and more recently grown on Glebe farm as well, from which their spelt beer was originally derived. The name reflects the Roman connection both through the grain and the evidence of occupation in the area.
The new Ciders are made only from apples grown within the county of Cambridgeshire. It starts its life as pure apple juice (which is a perfectly good enough product itself!) and then simply left to ferment! No yeast is added at all. The fermentation happens as a result purely of the natural yeasts already on the apples and the natural sugar from the juice. This is a totally natural product, pure and simple (literally!) Pure, natural flavourings are used for the range of flavours and for the draught Ciders, not even sulphites are used. We believe this makes for quite a unique quality product.
