Botham’s of Whitby is a family craft bakery that has been producing delicious baked goods at its Skinner Street bakehouse in Whitby since the 19th century. Elizabeth Botham opened her bakery in 1865 where she began selling bread and cakes at the local market.
Eventually, Elizabeth bought the premises on Skinner Street where the flagship store can still be found to this day. Botham's traditions are now proudly continued by the fourth and fifth generations of her family. At Springvale Foods, we stock a large selection of Botham’s of Whitby cakes, bread and biscuits for sale.
Rich and highly-fruited Plumb Bread
Botham's Plum Bread is a rich, yeast-risen, highly fruited loaf perfect for the tea table. This plum bread is recommended to be enjoyed sliced, lightly toasted and buttered. It features good shelf life but it might not stay in your customer's cupboard for long. It is one of the most popular products Botham’s of Whitby make.
Ginger Parkin for any time of year
Botham's Ginger Parkin is a delicious gingerbread cake that your customers can enjoy alongside a cup of tea at any time of the year. Ground ginger, treacle and oatmeal are used to create this Yorkshire treat.
Botham’s top-seller: Yorkshire Brack
Yorkshire Brack is a rich and sticky fruit loaf made without shortening. Botham's Yorkshire Brack is made by steeping vine fruits in Botham's tea blend "Resolution Tea". This mix is then combined with other fine quality ingredients to create a delicious tea loaf. In Yorkshire, this Yorkshire Brack can be enjoyed with butter and cheese but can also be enjoyed with preserves or eaten on its own.
Six biscuit varieties for your shelves
At Springvale Foods, we stock all of Botham's varieties of biscuits, from Botham's best-selling Shah Ginger biscuits to a variety of other flavoursome biscuits, including Botham's Tea Biscuits, Botham's Chocolate Chip and Ginger Biscuits, Botham's Double Chocolate Biscuits, Botham's Oat Snaps and Botham's Coconut and Stem Ginger Biscuits.
Botham's Shah Ginger Biscuits are made with the warm spice of the orient, which gives the biscuits their distinctive taste. These biscuits are ideal for dunking and feature a satisfying snap. The Botham family bakers believe that the aroma of the Shah Ginger Biscuits out of the oven is hard to beat.
Botham’s traditional Fruit Cakes
Botham's of Whitby make two delicious fruit cakes: the classic and traditional Botham's Fruit Cake and the Botham's Landlord Fruit Cake.
The traditional fruit cake is made with a variety of fruits combined with ground almonds, aromatic spices and sherry. This cake has been baked by Botham's for over 150 years. The Landlord Fruit Cake has a deeper flavour than the traditional Fruit Cake. For the Landlord Fruit Cake, vine fruits are steeped in Timothy Taylor’s Landlord™ Pale Ale and then this mix is combined with ground almonds and spices.
