Zoe Roberts, the founder of ButterNut, was inspired by London’s fusion of cultures and flavours to create delicious nutty spreads. Her passion has now turned into a range of award-winning spreads which taste incredible and are made from ethically-sourced organic ingredients.
ButterNut of London’s award-winning flavour combinations are dreamt up in Zoe’s kitchen. Everything is hand-made in small batches from organic ingredients to meticulous standards. Traceability and transparency have been key pillars of their business since day one.

In 2020, ButterNut won the Seed Fund’s competition to get their branding redesigned. Now, just like the flavours, the city of London is woven into the fabric of each design. Each label features unique hand-drawn illustrations specific to that particular variety. The jars are bold in shape. The material of the labels is silky and pearlescent. Finished with gold foil each and every design is striking, stylish and stands out on the shelf.
Zoe started her journey selling ButterNut in September 2017 at London’s oldest food market, Borough Market. Now, in addition to selling ButterNut at their Borough Market flagship store, the company has expanded to selling this fabulous nut butter in independent shops nationwide.
Throughout the years, some of her recipes have won stars in the Great Taste Awards, including the Butter Nut Organic Smooth Peanut Butter, which won 1 star at the Great Taste Awards in 2019. This delicious smooth peanut butter is made from organic blanched lightly toasted peanuts and Cornish sea salt. To make it extra smooth and full of flavour, this nut butter is handmade in small batches.
